It hailed today, twas awesome.

My Life according to Voltaire

Using only song names from ONE ARTIST, cleverly answer these questions. Pass it on to at least 5 people. You can't use the band I used. Try not to repeat a song title. It's a lot harder than you think! Repost as "my life according to (band name)"

Pick your Artist:
Voltaire

Are you a male or female?
"Dead Girls"

Describe yourself:
"Almost Human"

How do you feel:
"Happy Song"

Describe where you currently live:
"Ravens Land"

If you could go anywhere, where would you go:
"China Girl"

Your favorite form of transportation:
"Feathery Wings"

Your best friend is:
"BRAINS!"

What's the weather like:
"Caught a Lite Sneeze"

Favorite time of day:
"The Night"

If your life was a TV show, what would it be called:
"The Sexy Data Tango"

What is life to you:
"Graveyard Picnic"

Your fear:
"This Ship's Going Down"

What is the best advice you have to give:
"Bomb New Jersey"

Thought for the Day:
"God Thinks"

How I would like to die:
"Stakes and Torches (the uprising of the peasants)"

My soul's present condition:
"Born Bad"

My motto:
"The U.S.S. Make Shit Up"

That was a fun distraction...

I should go do work now. Just three more days of classes, three more days......

So, my Sister got hit by a car (but it's okay, no broken bones)

So... I'm very amused. I got this voicemail from my Dad today while I was working that went out like this:

Stephanie... this is your dad... I have something to tell you. Your sister... was in an accident today. She was walking home from school... I'm at St. Elizabeth's ICU right now... But it's okay, she doesn't have any broken bones. I'm just waiting for your call. My cell phone will be on.

Notice the order in which he stated things. I was listening to this, and I said "...no way! You're kidding me.....Oh my god, I'm gonna kill him!" The people at work were like "Either she got good news or something terribly life-changing has just occured. Or she's just mad." The way my dad sounded on the phone was like she was in a coma or something like that. Till he was just like: 'but it's okay, no broken bones.' I called and told him he was never allowed to give me bad news, or call from emergency rooms again. This is the second time he's done that. The last time was last spring around finals when he called to tell me that he was waiting in the emergency room because Mom fell off a cliff at the park when walking the dog. It wasn't a cliff, it was a rock. And she was there because she injured her knee. He made it sound as if she'd died or something.

Yeah. My sister got hit by a car. She'll be okay though. The only reason they're still at the hospital is because of legal procedures the hospital has to go through when someone is hit by a car.

Anyway, a meme from Alicia )

For the record: Dreams are stupid, and I miss House.

Oh. I also changed my major. Again. For the last time, I swear.

Of monkeys, subways, and waterfalls

I had a dream last night about hotels, subways, Japanese schools inside the subway stations with fancy restaurants, a tunnel to  water falls as big as Niagara that looked like it was from Naboo rather than Canada, and a raiding pack of monkeys. These monkeys were vicious, I tell you. It's why everything was in the subway stations underground, but the monkeys managed to get in anyhow and they wreaked mayhem in packs. At the end of the day a ton of people from highschool all had this neat little reunion in some underground thing, hiding from the monkeys. Oh. And Boomer was there. He was attacked by the monkeys at one point, and two of us had to go on a rescue mission. And the city place on the mountain by the waterfall that was really more like Naboo was all pretty and had big white buildings. But we only went there in the evening so it was all orange or pink until dark, which was when the monkeys kind of turn into zombie-monkeys and they get all crazed.

People died from these monkeys, but the waterfalls were cool. The place was "Rainbow City," and the falls, "Rainbow Falls." I think there were skittles falling there at one point.

There were other things in the dream, as there always are. But overall, I was rather amused when I woke up.  And hungry. There was the awesome kind of Japanese food in it. Like various tako dishes and fish on a stick. I want okonomiyaki.

I blame Nikko Park and Monkey Mountain.

See? Look at this little bugger. It's already trying to eat its way out of the cage.
They're evil.

Now I am off to watch Dr. Horrible...

...So I read this book. It's a good book. I reread portions of this book and decide, Hey, I should start on another one. So instead of reading an actual book, I take out my American short story anthology and reread... The Yellow Wallpaper.

How the hell do I go from Warchild, a book about a poor orphan captured by space pirates, then escapes the pirates only to be raised as an alien assassin and sent back to spy on his own race in a war to... a tortured woman going through postpartum who is then locked up in a yellow room, and manages to convince herself that she is a decoration in the wallpaper?

I don't see the connection. I don't even like The Yellow Wallpaper, as preferable as it was to most of the stories or novels we read in my 11th grade English class.

At least I've read my first book of the summer. Only nine more to go (I think).

...I'm going to go wash ticks off my dog now...

So another school year ends.

Many things have happened.

I switched majors, for one. I co-handedly saw the fruition of Animarathon. I made new friends (I think?). I really am reading less fan fiction than ever, which is cool. I really, really need to go to a doctor of some kind that will take me seriously. After living on my own in apartments, I've found I have higher living standards. I don't just dislike messy kitchens now, I detest them. I am now interested in a British Television show. I'm actually pleased with the way that my classes went, sort of. I am totally okay with not knowing what I'm going to be doing once I graduate. I have enough energy to care that my house grosses me out so that I do something about it.

I have a lot of projects for this summer. I'm kind of sad I haven't been able to start on them yet because of the projects and tasks that were handed to me when I got here, but they were things that needed to be done.

I'm amused that I had to weed wack the back lawn before I can even attempt to mow it. I mowed the front lawn. Twice. The first time was rather crooked in some areas, and so it annoyed me because I wanted straight lines. So obviously, I had to go and mow the lawn vertically. I imagine the image of me pushing the mower up our hilly lawn may have been comical towards the end. Or maybe just sad, because at that point I had tears in my eyes from the grass.

I'll go with sad.

I have a headache.

Anyway, here are my summer projects: )
I should probably start my summer homework since I'm already on the computer, but that would involve getting up to find the paper. Damn.

Death Note is Fun.

I feel as if I need to be going back to classes tomorrow.

I love this computer... Seriously. I'm always finding these knew little things by complete accident. Such as pressing a button at the same time as another one, and suddenly my windows slowly move to the corner of their own volition. Kinda neat.

So... Animarathon is done. Yay! ^_^ )

Anyway, with Animarathon gone, this means I can concentrate on raising my Japanese grade. I really need a B, because I don't want to parade around in a dress the first day of next semester. Of course, this means I actually need to start going to class again. I've kind of been failing at that lately.

On another note: I'm so excited for my classes next semester. I've dropped Digital Arts completely, so I'm not going to be killing myself over animation classes I don't really like.

This is what I'll be taking:

Tai Chi
History of Modern China
Chinese and Japanese Art History
Japanese 301
French 101
Biology 101

It'll be awesome. I'm also going to see if they'll let me take one more class, Balinese music. It's only two credit hours, and all I'll be doing is learning the actual instruments, so no studying or anything. I was going to take Japanese Literature, but I figure if I end up studying abroad like I want to do, I'll need some Asian Studies credits left to take.

Yet another random note: I really, really want to watch anime. I haven't been in the mood to actually watch any for months. Ohayocon was the last time I felt like watching anything, and even that didn't last long. I blame Animarathon. Both for causing my temporary resentment, and newfound desire to watch anything I can get my hands on. Unfortunately, I first I have to catch up with homework.

So, here's a random meme, because I need inspiration for posts or something:

Everyone has things they blog about. Everyone has things they don't blog about. Challenge me out of my comfort zone by telling me something I don't blog about, but you'd like to hear about, and I'll write a post about it. Ask for anything: latest movie watched, last book read, political leanings, thoughts on yaoi, favorite type of underwear, graphic techniques, etc. Repost in your own journal so that we can all learn more about each other.

grieving

current mood: grieving

Today is a sad, sad day. Cerberus won't turn on. For those of you who are not familiar with that name, Cerberus is my desktop. He's four years old now, or was. I'm hoping that I just need a new power supply, but if not...

R.I.P. Cerberus

I knew you well.

Even if it's not the power supply, is it possible for me to install the hard drive on a different computer to access my files? Or would the Hard drive be wiped out if I did that?

I had a lot of pictures on there, and while I got most of them, there's a lot left.

...I'm really happy that I used to reinstall windows so often. I have a lot of stuff backed up. I have a couple dvds of the music I had on Cerberus, and I transfered a lot of the pictures onto Bagoas (my external hard drive)

Really all I'm missing is some of my older files which I may want, but don't need, and the anime. I don't know if I'm even interested in seeing half of the anime I had on there anyway. It was mostly bleach and kyo kara maou. I'm not all that interested in KKM anymore, and I can get Bleach from someone else.

If you didn't notice, today is a day that only comes once every four years. And so, I decided that since I can only post on this day once every four years, it would be a waste to let it pass me by.

Post.

You know... I like home, but I think I kind of miss Bowling Green already. And ANO. I didn't think I'd miss ANO. I mean, I've kind of been to them all, so it's not like I don't have it every freakin' Friday but there you have it I guess. It may have something to do with my Dad showing me over an hour's worth of stuff on my parent's vacation in Hawaii that hasn't even happened yet (someone please kill me before the slideshow. It'll be more like a mercy killing really)

Definitely glad to be back to see Boomer though. It was really sad when after he was done saying hello to me he went and sat on the top of the steps, staring at the door. It was one of those expecting kind of stares. Once he realized Jonathan wasn't coming he went and pouted on the living room floor for awhile.

Plus I get to wear my favorite sweatshirt in the world, which I forgot at home after winter break. ^_^

Happy 2008, Everyone!

So... now is the time for New Years Resolutions, isn't it.

I think mine will be...

Come up with good resolutions for 2009.

Because I'm a great procrastinator, and don't really feel like making resolutions yet. ^__^

But really, as far as goals for the year, I suppose those would be:

- improve in Japanese and earn a B in JAPN202
- improve in Maya and receive an A in ARTC312
- improve my GPA
- earn money to go to Japan
- don't mess up Animarathon
- start drawing more often
- read even less fan fiction than I do now (I'm kind of proud on how much I've been able to cut back on it so far, as pathetic as that is)

There. I was tempted to do the whole "eat less sweets, lose five pounds" thing, but I don't think I'll make it through the year without cookies.

I love cookies.

I think I'll go eat one now.

This has been a rather interesting break for me. An intensely boring week at school working, then five days with Trebek staying at my house. I'm a rather private person at home, so while it was fun for the first couple of days, I was rather tired by the end.

I've been wondering whether or not I want to post the pictures of my final projects on here, as I think they all suck majorly, but I made them, and so I shall post them.

So...Art-ness )

There is something amazing that came out of break:

I now have over twenty new DVDs. I was amazed. Amazed. The majority of them are Disney, which makes my heart smile. I'm especially pleased with Aladdin, Jungle Book, Peter Pan, and Mulan. I've been watching alot of those over the break.

Do you know what I hate? The fact that three lights in the apartment have gone out in the last two-three days. This is very irritating.
